Students have a choice of a variety of very comfortable, furnished housing accommodations on Campus and off-Campus. Full-time students are given priority for housing on Campus during their first year Please refer to the Student Services link for further information. Nationals of CARICOM countries as well as citizens of all Commonwealth Countries are allowed entry to Jamaica without a Student Visa. Before arriving in Jamaica, you should ensure that your passport is valid to cover at least the period up to the end of the academic year. You should also travel with proof of your student status (that is, a Student ID card) or if a new student, with the official Letter of Offer from the School. At the airport, you will be issued a temporary Visitor�s Visa. During the first week of the Semester, a list of all Jamaican and non-Jamaican students, who are citizens of Commonwealth Nations, will be sent to the Immigration Office to enable these students to obtain permits. If you are not a Jamaican, you must check at the Student Services Office to ensure that your name has been submitted to the Immigration Office. Citizens of non-Commonwealth Countries must obtain a valid Student Visa prior to entry into Jamaica. Such persons must make their request at the nearest Jamaican Diplomatic Mission or Consulate. On arrival, you will be granted two weeks landed status. Passports will be submitted by the School to the Immigration Office where they will be endorsed and returned with the notation �Student�. Jamaica�s west coast boasts several miles of white sand beaches and hotels, while its north coast is known for the famous Dunn�s River Falls located in Ocho Rios, St. Ann as well as other attractions. In the east, there is Reach Falls located in Portland; The south coast provides a stimulating variety of leisure activities � including Treasure Beach and Alligator Pond in St. Elizabeth. There are also activities such as snorkeling and scuba diving which are enjoyed by many visitors year round. The Island is also famous for its reggae music, food, as well as personalities such as Bob Marley, Usain Bolt, Marcus Garvey, Louise Bennett, Shaggy to name a few. |
To ensure a successful academic career at the All American Institute of Medical Sciences and to correlate with licensure guidelines, please complete the following prerequisites. Students are eligible to apply for private educational loans from various private loan lenders. U.S. Citizens and permanent residents, as well as Canadian citizens, are eligible to apply on their own as long as they are credit worthy (no co-signer). It is highly recommended to apply with a co-signer. AAIMS administration is committed to provide all the possible help from our end to facilitate the process for you.
All American Institute of Medical Science (AAIMS) recognizes the academic excellence, community, and volunteer service(s) of our applicants. We have established a number of full and partial scholarships to qualified students for each entering semester. Scholarship criteria are competitive and funding is limited; eligible students are encouraged to apply in a timely manner for review. Applicants and accepted students are invited to apply for available scholarships posted on our University website. PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship applications are only available to first-year, incoming students.
Limited scholarships are awarded to students, who have demonstrated academic excellence in the Pre-Med Program. An application for this scholarship is not required, as qualified, deserving students are nominated by the Admissions Committee. Details are as follows:
MD Scholarships: A grant of $2,000 per semester for the 1st two Semesters will be awarded to those students possessing an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.8 or higher, and a pre-requisite GPA of 3.5 or higher, and otherwise accepted to AAIMS by the Admissions Committee.
PRE-MED Scholarships: A grant of $1,000 per pre-med semester will be awarded to those students possessing a Final High School GPA of 3.5 on the 4.0 scale and SAT score of 1300 to include a combined verbal and math score, or a composite ACT score of 27 or higher, and otherwise accepted to AAIMS by the Admissions Committee.
A minimum Final GPA of 3.0 GPA must be maintained to continue to receive the benefits of the awarded scholarship.
